Injured wildlife are not the most cooperative of patients. Wildlife rehabilitators have an arsenal of equipment and techniques we use to protect ourselves. I was wearing the lead x-ray apron and heavy raptor gloves, so I thought I was protected. All the way through – and a brand-new volunteer had to pull it out!
