Tropical Cyclone Iggy

The birds will be dispersing across the country and our garden has been rather quiet since the rain started. They will be seeking protection where they can and they will return as soon as the rain eases. A wet garden without birds! We took the opportunity to just observe the birds and their antics.

Birding Napo, Guangxi, China – part 2

On the third day in Napo, the local driving me to a bird hide was coughing a lot. Healthy enough to enjoy the sight of some Blue-winged Minlas , both in a bird hide and in a local park. Birds not used to having their photos taken often do not understand the concept of looking into the camera. Still, I was healthy. Your choice.

Birding Shanghai in September 2022

The name is a puzzle though – even the HBW states that the bird has “small or no crest” These photos were taken on Sep 26, indicating that the birds passed Shanghai rather late (according to the HBW, “autumn migration from early to late Sept”). The Japanese Paradise Flycatcher is listed as Near Threatened.
