Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve: the Gaur Morning

Traveling the rural Maharashtra on previous days, every village had its share of small, slim and long-legged domestic chickens crossing in front of us, not unlike this wild cousin at all. Nowhere in India have I seen broiler horror-chicken like those sold in supermarkets back home. The morning is cold, much colder than we expected.

There is a lot more to tell: descriptions of remote villages, delicous exotic food, unusual exotic food, going hungry, preparations for treks into isolated jungle areas (does one buy Quaker Oats or a live chicken?), And sun bears. If it were just the birds, I’d grab my bins and be on the next plane to Asia or Africa. And mosquitos.
