Another cavity nesting species that breeds in Lassen Volcanic National Park is the Brown Creeper ( Certhia americana ). Even though they naturally nest in burrows mainly created by ground squirrels, badgers and prairie dogs, Burrowing Owls ( Athene cunicularia ) also use artificial burrows.
