ZAMBIA Wildlife Authority (Zawa) yesterday arrested four people, including two police officers, in Kafue for trafficking in ivory and rhino horns worth more than K1 billion. That's a huge slaughter in my opinion. 36 elephants? 36 elephants?

They are not necessarily the biggest African animals, but represented those that were considered a real hunter’s worthy prey or “game” – the African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Black Rhinoceros, Leopard and king of the jungle, the Lion (which of course doesn’t inhabit jungle but savanna!).

The definition of the word HUNT is “to chase or search for game or other wild animals for the purpose of catching or killing.” We have given an awful exhibition of slaughter and destruction, which may serve as a warning to all mankind. Of course, by now most people know they have been slaughtered by hunters for their ivory.
