However, the age of the Golden Gooney was to come to a brutal end; beginning in the late 1800′s, they were being slaughtered by the millions for their feathers at their breeding colonies. The most notorious effect is that their eggshells become so thin that a parent bird will crush it’s eggs while attempting to incubate them.

The definition of the word HUNT is “to chase or search for game or other wild animals for the purpose of catching or killing.” We have given an awful exhibition of slaughter and destruction, which may serve as a warning to all mankind. Of course, by now most people know they have been slaughtered by hunters for their ivory.
