In my opinion, and I am a vegetarian, the second definition of humane is the MINIMAL that we should expect. There is an abundance of information on the web about undercover investigations, livestock conditions, slaughter procedures, etc. Factory animals are voiceless victims. The eventual kill is quick, clean, and painless.

By carrying out a slaughter system that greatly reduces the suffering of chickens, Bell & Evans and Mary’s Chickens show that animal welfare and good business go hand in hand. While ever more consumers are going vegetarian or vegan, almost every consumer is demanding that companies take steps to reduce animal suffering.

Over at Animal Rights and AntiOppression , we’ve been discussing tactics and sharing our thoughts and experiences about what works and doesn’t work when it comes to advocacy. But I’m merely making his point. People are irrational and conflicted and make a show of taking a stand but manage to still do whatever they want in the end.
