I read an article last week about a series of cat killings and mutilations (20 total) in south Florida. He's charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty, 19 counts of improperly disposing of an animal body and four counts of burglary. Tags: animal cruelty. Just awful.

I came across this strange article about German research on which slaughter method creates more pain for the animal: the Western method of stunning or the Islamic method of a cut to the neck. You can read all about the results in the article. According to the researchers, the Islamic method wins.

Full article at the BBC News. Canadian police are investigating the reported killing of 100 huskies which had been used to pull tourist sleds in the ski resort of Whistler. An animal rights group claims the dogs were killed inhumanely by an outdoor adventure company and thrown into a mass grave.

Code, Title 18.48, made it a federal crime to knowingly create, sell, or possess a depiction of animal cruelty with the intention of placing that depiction in interstate or foreign commerce for commercial gain.
