This was illegal, because according to FWC regulations, if you already own a pet that has been deemed invasive or illegal, you are allowed to keep it until its natural death, and it will not be confiscated or euthanized. Reptiles that are not treated ethically simply do not make good pets. So why not worry about the welfare of a snake?

Many people support this, particularly affluent types, who have become dog and cat people and now own them as "pets." Yes, it is hypocritical (speciesism), but who said that we either protect humans or animals? Let's deconstruct: Legal experts in China are proposing a ban on the eating of dogs and cats. Where do people get that idea?
