For mankind to snatch away a species’ very existence is wrong on so many levels that I can’t begin to explain them. However, despite our best efforts to wipe them off the face of the earth, some of the more vulnerable species have managed to hang on. this species breeds. In 1850, the Passenger Pigeon ( Ectopistes migratorius ) was the most abundant bird in North America and possibly the world. We have given an awful exhibition of slaughter and destruction, which may serve as a warning to all mankind. Of course, by now most people know they have been slaughtered by hunters for their ivory.
