The trail wound down steep ravines and crossed narrow, sand-filled creeks before skirting the edge of the lake itself. Anhinga sat on exposed logs, near slowly swimming alligators. We slipped Noah into the baby backpack and covered him with a mosquito net, noting a pair of Mississippi Kites swirling in the hazy sky overhead.

Lost on the Space Coast

As I slowly wound around the first few pull-offs I found little of note. I mean come on, it’s not like it’s an Alligator or anything. Beggars and choosers and whatnot. The ponds were dry as a bone, appealing only to the Killdeer that scrambled between muddy patches. Any Reddish Egret induced layover is not acceptable.
