For example, whoever named the blue spotted salamander did a yeoman's job, as this animal is (1) a salamander, and (2) blue with black spots. The name "Mamba Snake" doesn't tell us much about how it looks, but it's unique, memorable and, importantly, a snake. However, it is a wasp.
