The capital is San Juan, an important center of Caribbean culture and transportation. Sometimes it can literally be the same bird : a Black-and-white Warbler that winters in Guánica likely breeds in or around Pennsylvania. Puerto Rico became a territory in 1898 and a commonwealth in 1952.
