November 12, 2008) – Busch Gardens Tampa Bay welcomed a new baby white rhinoceros on Wednesday, Nov. The female rhino was born in the night quarters adjacent to their 26-acre white rhino habitat on Busch Gardens’ Serengeti Plain. Their second calf, Dakari, was born in August 2006, and their third, Crash, was born in May 2008.

she shot a rhino (auctioned for conservation). Shot a rhino? I’m not a fan of some of the cuts to science, but National came in in 2008. On the other hand, I’m pretty dubious about shooting rhinos for conservation. she’s Texan. But by the same token, it isn’t necessarily a good idea either.

We are nearing the waterhole, and see the large oval shadow in the darkness: that White Rhino cow with a calf. Here and there, eyes are shining, mostly numerous Scrub Hares. If such a trend continues, we will lose these animals for good!
