It's a sad day for horse lovers. Barbaro, the magnificent thoroughbred who broke his leg two weeks after winning the 2006 Kentucky Derby (I watched both races live), was put to death after taking a turn for the worse in his recovery. You've probably heard the word "euthanasia" applied to dog pounds. But this is inappropriate.

He received the highest score in both my fall 2005 Social and Political Philosophy course and my spring 2006 Ethics course. I’m a dog person. I don’t know about Jonathan; maybe he’s a horse person. I believe Jonathan’s plan was to become a medical doctor. For example, I’m a conservative, politically speaking.
