They are generally regarded as summer visitors, arriving back from their wintering grounds in Africa in March, and departing again in September. I have fond memories of watching flocks feeding on the open veld in South Africa, where thousands spend the winter. However, in Southern Spain a small number of birds are resident.

Birds of Ecuador” is a heavy book, but only marginally more than e.g. Helm Birds of East Africa. Robin Restall is an acclaimed bird artist, whose works include the Helm’s Birds of Northern South America (2006). The majority of these illustrations were originally painted for the Birds of Northern South America (2006).

Elephants in Zakouma National Park, the last stronghold for the savannah elephants of Central Africa's Sahel region, have crashed to just 1,000 animals from an estimated 3,000 in 2006. Tags: ivory chad africa poaching elephants. This situation sounds a lot like the the mountain gorillas, the Congo and Virunga National Park.

Their second calf, Dakari, was born in August 2006, and their third, Crash, was born in May 2008. Mlelani, Tambo and another female white rhino were airlifted from Kruger National Park in South Africa in 2001 through the efforts of the International Rhino Foundation (IRF), a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of rhinos.

Its great diversity of habitats hosts an incredible bird count of over 900 species, including Africa’s 2nd highest list of endemics and near-endemics (after South Africa).

We already had South Africa, Zambia and Uganda under our belts, but my clients’ request for the next year came right out of the blue: Ghana! Africa’s only rainforest canopy walkway in Kakum National Park.
