The Swallow-tailed Kites in Florida Are Now Heading South…
10,000 Birds
AUGUST 1, 2013
Similar observation have been made in Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico where up to 47,000 migrating Mississippi Kites are counted every season as they fly south. Kites generally fly to Cuba and then over the ocean to arrive in the Yucatan Peninsula or areas further south. Photo Credits: Tim Kelly. Project NG94-025.
