If someone’s sole reason for abstaining from meat were pain-avoidance, then there would be no reason not to eat these cows. Even Peter Singer would eat these cows, assuming he had a taste for beef, which he probably doesn’t. Scientific research and expertise are needed here. If not, why not? If so, would this be immoral?
