According to the World Bank, up to 80 percent of Ghana’s forests had been destroyed by illegal logging by 2008. Figures I could obtain indicate that Ghana’s forests have reduced alarmingly from 8.2 million hectares at the beginning of the 20th century to a mere 1.4 million hectares in 2007.
