Feral Cats Are An Invasive Species in North America (and elsewhere)

10,000 Birds

I find it astonishing that people argue of whether feral cats are bad for birds in North America. The plethora of approaches to the feral Cat problem is not an outcome of a diversity of great ideas; it is the ugly chimera of inappropriate compromise among biased and often poorly informed stakeholders. Which would be even worse.

That Awkward Moment With Feral Cats and Family

10,000 Birds

Case in point: some of my family members have become active with feral cat colony organizations. On the one hand, it’s better than doing nothing with a feral cat colony. I believe that a feral may never be a lap cat and they may never even let you pet them. There are also many "feral" and "food-aggressive" personality types in humans, but we don't put them down.)

And despite their tiny size, they are supposed to be as intelligent as rats which I believe are as smart or smarter than dogs and cats. Note that neither dogs nor cats have hands, but both mice and rats do. Given that both dogs and cats can use word buttons, how interesting to learn what mice are thinking.

Invasive species in Australia

10,000 Birds

There are wild dogs present and these are not the dingo, but a dog that was also brought to Australia by Europeans in 1788 and has spread throughout the country. Feral cats have been able to adapt very well in Australia and have grown larger over the years and can survive in areas that you would not expect.
