Why Would a Wild Rabbit Let Humans Pet It?

My son (m8) and some of his neighborhood friends found a rabbit outside, and apparently it let the kids get close enough that some were able to pet it (I made it very clear to my son that I didn’t want him touching the rabbit). Any thoughts?

Rabbit near my work

So every morning I walk into work and this rabbit always jumps out of these bushes I walk past. I hope it’s a him because I call him Roger. Roger will usually hop about 8 feet away but stay. I never try and get too close. So today I’m leaving work and I see Roger pop out.

I touched a wild rabbit (to help it) on a walk. Should I be concerned about disease?

My 4 year old and I were on a walk and saw a young wild rabbit stuck in a fence. But I probably would have let the rabbit suffer, sad as that may have been, if I had thought there was any chance of getting my young kids seriously sick. It was desperately trying to get out but I could tell there was no hope. It ran away just fine.
