SHAC7 Trailer
I credit Will Potter as the catalyst for shifting my focus away from critiques of other activists and activist groups (particularly his post, " While the Government Continues Attacks on Activists, Animal Rights Groups Protest Each Other " back in 2008). I'm not saying that criticism of PETA, or any other group, isn't warranted. SHAC 7 Trailer from Sparrow Media on Vimeo . And there certainly are some loud voices doing that criticizing.

PETA Wants Knut Castrated!
She's here temporarily for companionship, but the group is concerned. We're talking about Knut the polar bear. He was the cute little polar bear whose birth at the Berlin Zoo was so controversial because his mother rejected him. He was raised by a trainer.

Another Fake Animal Welfare Group
I was browsing for some quotes when I came across this group - The National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA). Our members are pet owners, dog and cat clubs, obedience clubs and rescue groups as well as breeders, trainers, veterinarians, research scientists, farmers, fishermen, hunters and wildlife biologists. They had a page with quotes from animal rights activists, but as I was reading, I noticed that they were very unfavorable quotes from such activists as Wayne Pacelle and Ingrid Newkirk. The quotes seemed designed to show them as extremists and/or insincere liars.

Horse Rescue Group Blogging from Marysville, WA
told me that horse groups have been hit particularly hard with the economy. I came across this lovely blog by who I think is one of the group's volunteers. I've received so many donation requests from "People Helping Horses" that I finally decided to send a donation. I've never been around horses much, but a friend of mine who has 3 horses and 2 burros (!)

Scientist Advocacy Group Oppose Some Animal Testing
Here's a group I've never heard of. I found a link to them on ANIMAL's blog (ANIMAL is a Portuguese animal rights group.) These scientists are NOT an animal rights group. They do support some animal-based studies (which sucks); HOWEVER, they acknowledge that much animal research is useless. (Remember Remember animal research doesn't just create reports, it creates CAREERS as well.)

Mean Lady Hates Pet Bereavement Groups
Apparently there was an announcement at the desk for a pet bereavement group. A pet bereavement group. I think pet bereavement groups are really important and I think that's a horrible thing to say. Here's a random story. I was standing near the information desk at the library for no particular reason when a pear-shaped woman in her fifties with frizzy perm-damaged hair stopped by.

Some Groups that Still Support Animal Research
From PETA's Animal Times (I tore out the page and there's no date anymore...but but it was 2009). *The The US Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association *March of Dimes *American Heart Association *Susan G. Komen Foundation *British Heart Foundation *World Cancer Research Fund I can't tell you all what I do for a living because it's kind of sensitive, but let's just say that my unit has had dealings with Susan G.

Group Pursues Investigation of US Labs
I predict they'll get nowhere. From UPI... Stop Animal Exploitation Now filed the complaint with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, urging a probe of 50 U.S. researchers for allegedly filing fraudulent documents and performing nearly identical experimentation in violation of federal regulations, the organization said in a news release. "The

PETA Among Groups Spied on by Maryland State Police
According to the Washington Post , PETA was one of many groups the Maryland State Police considered a security threat. PETA was labeled a "security threat group" in April 2005, and by July police were looking into a tip that the group had learned about a failing chicken farm in Kent County and planned on "protesting or stealing the chickens." A "very casually dressed" undercover trooper attended a speech by PETA's president that month and waited afterward to see whether anyone talked about chickens. Nobody did.

Environmental Groups Call For End To USDA Wildlife Killing
Environmental groups have called on Obama to get rid of the USDA's Dept. of Wildlife Services , which is involved in mainly predator control programs (coyotes are a big target). Ranchers oppose the move. From WildEarth Guardians: WildEarth Guardians’ research reveals this agency is: • Biologically Unsound - Wildlife Services uses a “sledgehammer approach” to wildlife management, meaning over one million
