Kelp Gulls , Whiskered Terns and Neotropic Cormorants flew in determined fashion higher above the water, invariably from right to left. It is surprising how quickly the pain is forgotten when batteries die, media cards need changing and the focus lock refuses to budge. I can recommend an owl shoot to anyone with a bad back.

While visiting the Kakadu National Park, I was able to photograph this Rainbow Bee eater right after it had caught a dragonfly. With him guiding the way, we were able to track down this Papuan Frogmouth, right along side the river bank. Spending time in Darwin Australia, has made that our #1 spot to return to after the year was done.

We chose the Battery Harris Platform at Fort Tilden, along the barrier beaches of the Rockaway Pensinsula in Queens, because it affords a great view of both the bay and the ocean, as well as a wide expanse of dune scrub habitat. Briefly and essentially, it is a competition to see as many birds as possible from one location in one day.

At first, I made a few record shots, digiscoping through the Swarovski 25-60×65 STX with a hand-held mobile phone, until the battery went flat. It is not merely sharpness of image, but sharpness from-edge-to-edge right up to 60x magnification! It was at the same spot, but this time I have found a way to get much closer.
