Students, veterinarians address animal welfare scenarios during annual contest

The 23rd annual AVMA Animal Welfare Assessment Contest, or AWJAC, took place November 17-19 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Participants completed in-person assessments of the welfare of animals in a variety of scenarios, including laboratory rats, farmed bison, cage-free laying hens, and tortoises in a zoo.

Long story short there was a rat in the house, my stepfather got a glue trap, he caught the rat and threw it in the garbage (this was last night at 11pm) this morning my sister tells me that they caught the rat and showed me the video of my parents scooping it up and throwing it in the garbage.

Humane rat control?

Hello, We have some big fat rats in our backyard. At night I hear things on the roof but dont know if its possums, cats, rats, who knows. I cant purchase a cat because we are not allowed animals in our rental. They seem to know each other. They hang out in one of our trees. Ive seen 3. There is no sign of them in the house.

Rat or Muskrat?

Not sure what I saw , at first when it was climbing the bird feeder I thought it was a really big rat. Tail was super long which made me think maybe a muskrat. There is a river near the house and it always heads in that direction when I scare it off. This is the only time I got a good look at it.

Is there a spider that gets eaten by larger animals that has a larger secondary spider that tracks it and hunts it in order to find prey?

For some reason I remember hearing about this spider I heard it eats big animals. It's a large spider that has a little secondary spider or other type of animal that's attached to its sense of tracking and hunting other animals.
