It is technically correct, and recently fashionable, to insist that any living animal is a member of the larger group that contains it phylogenetically, i.e., ancestrally, with that group often named after the known animal that roots the tree. So, for example, humans are apes. Until turkey size or so. Whales are cows.

My rehabber friend Lisa Acton, who is with Animal Kingdom USA Wildlife Rehabilitation , picked up her phone and heard the voice of an elderly lady. Huddled next to a tree in the darkness she found not a raven but a juvenile Turkey Vulture, almost grown but still sporting tufts of down. It’s a Raven ,” said the voice. Run, Tippi!”

Parker was an adult Turkey Vulture who enjoyed playing with children. Animal control authorities had been on his trail for weeks. Local animal control, the police, and our rehabilitation center were all called, but he proved uncatchable. Animal control officers began taking it personally. coli and botulism go no further.

It's been 25 years to the day since I ate turkey. Consequently, no turkey has suffered or died on my account for the past quarter century. They can't solve the problem of animal suffering all by themselves, so they throw up their hands in defeat and go on eating meat. My hands, with regard to turkeys, are clean.

I read that if you scale up a mouse to human size and you look at body-lengths per second, they are moving at 152.6 They are not genetically so dissimilar to humans, sharing a lot of our genetic material. A gray blur which moved so rapidly I was not at first sure I had seen it but it repeated and I was pretty sure I had a mouse.

Below legal size for humans is still legal for pelicans. Hence, the experiment was created: a plot was fenced off to keep the animals away and now willow saplings did survive being submerged for half a year. I do have experience with this species from Bodrum, Turkey; it is daring, bold and cocky, and is impossible to forget.

I have had no other animal products (no beef, pork, lamb, or turkey, for example) since 1982. Human beings are, and always will be, imperfect, morally and otherwise.
