Bird of the Year?

How can one, in what is barely the second week of the first month of the year – even think of suggesting a Bird of the Year? I began recording my bird sightings with photographs in late 2009, and since then I have seen (or at least heard) a fair proportion of species recorded within my home country of Trinidad & Tobago.

My Year in Birding 2012

Two-thousand-twelve was a pretty darn good year for me birding-wise and otherwise. Seeing 525 species was nice, as was the fact that I birded in four countries, nine of the fifty states in the United States, and fifty-one counties. I had some goals for this year as well, goals which I laid out in the introduction to my 2012 year list.

Where Are You Birding This Final Weekend of 2012?

The last weekend of December 2012 is the last weekend of the entire year. Since I didn’t keep a year list in 2012, I feel no pressure to beat the bushes for final ticks. I may just sit back and contemplate how fortunate I’ve been this year to see amazing birds in amazing places with amazing people. How about you?
