The sheer number of species that have been shuffled around on our big earth is impressive, though we will be dealing with the smaller sample size of invasive avians and other invasives that effect avians. There were no mammals, little game, and not many birds either.

A Birder Reads a Scientific Paper

It is helpful to have a sample paper. Over two years (2011 and 2012), scientists captured 50 birds and successfully transported them from Niho to Laysan. My impression is that few birders dive into ornithological and ecological papers, but there’s much to be learned, even if the reading can be tough sledding.
