It is very easy to reach Olympic Park by public transport and the fastest way is to take a train from Central Station to Lidcombe and then you take a train to Olympic Park. The tourist information centre is small and provides you with a map to help you with the large area of both sport’s arenas and the natural environment.

On the first trip in 2012 we used public transport to get there and the train conveniently gets you to Macarthur Square shopping centre and you can then get a bus that drops you right at the entrance to the park. There are display boards with information around the park and of course it tells you which of the creatures are dangerous to touch!

Reddell Beach or Riddell Beach, depending on your source of information is a very picturesque beach in Broome between the port of Broome and Gantheaume Point. Grey-tailed Tattler are the species that we observe lying on the wet sand after the tide has turned more than any other species and most often at the back of the flock!

Arriving in Singapore we soon collected our bags and got ourselves a NETS card for travel on public transport and to also use in supermarkets. I would do a lap of the lake and take in all of the different species of birds that called the city home. It remains a good location for observing birds close to the city and easily accessible by public transport. The most useful resource we have found for finding a trail to go birding along in the Sydney area is one called “wildwalks” and it is particularly good because it offers a wide range of walks of varying lengths and also using public transport.
