Every year, roughly 3 million lost dogs and cats end up in shelters in the United States. DoSomething.org is all about empowering young people to take action on causes they care about.

Georgia Dog-Fighting Law Having an Impact
This information is from Best Friends. This is a good thing. The American Southeast is a hotbed of blood sports. Before 2008, only one person had been incarcerated for dog fighting in Georgia. Considering the state had one of the weakest dog-fighting laws in the nation, that's no compliment.

Settlement Forces Animal Research Facilities to Disclose More
Animal research facilities will be required to disclosee more information online about their experiments under a court settlement signed Wednesday by the Humane Society of the United States and the Agriculture Department. This would be awesome. Now, I know it doesn't solve everything, but it's another chink in the armor. From the LA Times.
