Here are a few of my recommendations for some such esteemed members of the Costa Rican avifauna: Forest Football Chicken or FFC (Great Tinamou) – Since tinamou sounds like the perfect representation of an oddly-shaped bird with a small head that gives beautiful tremulous vocalizations, I am sorely tempted to leave this one off the list.

Additional photographs are by a small group of photographers including Mike Danzenbaker and Alan Murphy. I would love to see a reference to a couple of the most active groups, or to the Audubon Florida web page, in a future edition.

While it feels unfortunate to have a non-essential, experimental designation for this reintroduced population, this designation has made many endangered species reintroductions possible over the years when they otherwise would have been blocked by special interest groups.
