Researchers studying the Fork-tailed Drongo (like the one above spotted by Redgannet) found that these birds essentially “cry wolf” to steal the food of others. Also from the Philly area, where Canada Geese are concerned, where is the love ?). But our new nest is, at last, well on its way to getting feathered.

Ottenby Nature Reserve is run by The Swedish Ornithological Society and visitors can observe researchers collecting data and birds being caught in the mist nest and funnel traps on site. Barnacle Geese and their downy-grey cygnets were everywhere, grazing alongside picnickers and sunbathers. How could Norway top this?

Our internet research showed that somebody in Pine County had all three ( Black, Brown-capped, and Gray-crowned ) Rosy Finches on the feeders in their garden. And now I did. Closer to the research centre we discovered a flock of over 150 Brolga walking through one of the recently harvested crops. There were also Purple Swamphens around the edges of the lagoon and Green Pygmy Geese further out. Three Australian Bustards. Straw-necked Ibis accompanied them as they searched for food amongst the crop.

However, Blue-winged x Cinnamon crosses have been spotted before by, for example, Bill Schmoker , Greg Lasley , and still others.
