This year we did the same, but this time it was Palm Springs, Western Australia! This track will lead you to the Halls Creek Poo Ponds and these are by far the best Poo Ponds in the north of Western Australia! The long grasses and reeds were perfect for them and they had plenty of protection along the length of the river.

It has been more than 5 years since I last went to Australia, and I was even less of a qualified bird photographer then than I am now. So, the basic idea is to show 15 species of Australian birds in each post and give you the usual trivia about them. And that seems to be the only vaguely satisfying thing left to do at the moment.

Crowded beaches

These migratory shorebirds crowd together for protection when they roost at high tide. We are very fortunate here in Broome to have so many of the shorebird species represented on the beaches of Roebuck Bay. With all of the travel restrictions in Australia there are very few people moving around the continent. Safety in numbers!
