But even I have heard of how exciting southeast Arizona is for American birders. All sorts of exotic and beautiful species may be seen. This would sound attractive even to me, except for one fact: almost all of those exotic and beautiful species are common down here in central Mexico. These are all summer-only in Arizona.)

The Rusty Squirrel-Hawk AKA Ferruginous Hawk

Note the long yellow gape, a characteristic field mark of this species. Ferruginous Hawks were petitioned for listing under the federal Endangered Species Act in 1991 but rejected; currently they are listed as a Category 2 Species by the U.S. Obviously more research needs to be done on this magnificent raptor.
