Ever since I was a kid I wanted to learn how to draw, but alas I never made it past the stickman. It seemed to draw you in and I could easily imagine standing beside him, staring as he did at the bird, watching it curve its neck downwards. The title read “Birds of the Northern Forest”, paintings by J.F. He died on July 27, 2008.

Maine Jumpstarted My 2021 Birding

Like so many, the majority of my birding since the Covid-19 pandemic began has centered on my own backyard and local walking excursions. Birding around Chaka, Qinghai, China

Fortunately, I share this preference with birds, which we found away from the lake, mostly in some semi-desert areas. “ Not the bird’s fault, I guess. Possibly my favorite bird on the whole Qinghai trip was this Mongolian Ground Jay – thanks a lot to Bella from Alpinebirding for finding it.

Best Bird of the Weekend (Third of March 2020)

Then again, you may have passed Saturday and Sunday in quite the same way you spend all your weekends: looking at birds and communing with nature. Alas, the pickings were slim apart from one freezing raptor counter. Corey got out a bit on Saturday morning in the midst of the Corona Virus quarantine to do a bit of birding on the coast.
