Foundational Work

10,000 Birds

Unfortunately, this lucrative tourism only occurs from November to March, leaving the region’s entire tourist infrastructure abandoned for the rest of each year. One young girl had sent her a photo she had taken with her mobile phone, wanting to know what species it might be, and was it a good one. I’m on the left.

Cyprus Delights – Part III

10,000 Birds

There are 154 species of cuckoos in the world, and they’re all a fascinating bunch. It’s not a species you are likely to overlook, either, as it is extremely noisy, its cackling call carrying great distances. Give it a few more years and there’s a good chance that it will be split into a full species, just like the Cyprus Scops Owl.

This resulted in my only photograph of this species to date.

With my recent relocation to the central forests of Trinidad, I have been afforded the incredible opportunity of observing three oft-confused species in close proximity to one another. Some Hokkaido Winter Passerines

10,000 Birds

Given how far Hokkaido is from Europe, it seems a bit surprising how many bird species wintering on this Japanese island have a name starting with “Eurasian” Or how many of these species I have also seen in my parents’ garden in Germany. It seems extra-pair paternity is very frequent in this species.
