I’ve yet to see one in the UK, but I had a memorable encounter with one while birding from a small boat on a river in Lithuania. Rabbits have become surprisingly scarce close to home, but I don’t have to go far to see warrens of them, with as many as 30 or 40 in one field. My lasting impression was how big the animal was.
