Scavenger or efficient hunter? They were pecking at it while pinning it to the ground when it was rescued. My friend thought it was a mitiq, which generally applies to one of the eiders. They have their own names, but in the vernacular it works fine for either. The Gyrfalcon was rehabilitated and released after a short period of time.
