Here are the results of the EU flirtation with restricting research on primates. Researchers can continue most experiments on mankind's closest relatives -- chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans -- after European Union lawmakers watered down proposals to restrict testing. I don't support animal research and I have no sympathy for animal researchers. I don't believe they are working for human welfare. I would never advocate violence against a researcher. I almost quit a book club a year ago because one of the members is a proponent of medical research.

Animal Person , someone who is clearly smarter than me, has a great analysis about the recent "Pepper" series in Slate about animal research. At least he didn't try to make me feel happy or warm and fuzzy about animal research. By the end of my time as researcher, I was performing behavioral experiments on humans.

So, I belong to this book group of 5 to 7 women. I've been with the group for a while and it's not bad. There is one member of this group who works for a pharmaceutical company. She supports medical research on animals. One scene has the author entering the part of the hospital where the research animals are.

Beloved family pet Dalmatian, Pepper, is stolen, and after several weeks of searching is discovered to have been experimented on at a hospital and died on the table when researchers tried to implant her with an experimental cardiac pacemaker. By the end of my time as researcher, I was performing behavioral experiments on humans.
