Rip Van Winkle’s Crow Killing Contest

10,000 Birds

I won’t pick a fight with hunters, as long as they eat what they shoot and don’t use lead ammunition. One hopes this is the direction in which all killing contests are headed.

How many birds are killed by windmills and other green energy projects?

10,000 Birds

However, in this post, I’d like to lay out the basic numbers as we pretend to know them about overall bird mortality, human related causes of mortality, and somewhere in there I’ll note that the number of birds that are killed by windmills is so small that it says “zero” on my pie chart. So keep that in mind.

Other animal control issues that involve mass killing make for easier decisions, according to Peter P.

Can Nature Take Care of Itself?

10,000 Birds

This blog was written by Marge Gibson, co-founder of Raptor Education Group, Inc. Consider this: ninety percent of birds treated at wildlife centers are admitted as a result of human interactions that have nothing to do with “nature.” Our world has changed, and humans have created that change. The difference seems obvious.

Flock to Marion

10,000 Birds

So, I anxiously followed the “Flock to Marion 2022” Facebook group in anticipation for open cabins to come up for sale. It has had very few humans walk its soil and who have had little impact to this otherwise pristine nature. The seal hunters accidentally introduced mice to Marion, as was the case for many islands around the world.
