While these birds are very much liked by Chinese birders, the species could unfortunately not be named the National Bird of China as the Latin species name of the bird is Grus Japonicus. Apparently, birds that are fast in exploring new things – bold birds – are better at rejecting parasitic eggs ( source ).

Camping by the Fitzroy River

There is a good mix of bird species both large and small. Goanna investigating the drop-off. We moved in slowly and soon observed that there was a well camouflaged nest with one egg in it. Black-fronted Dotterel nest with one egg. Langi Crossing is always a great place for birds, but they do vary on each visit.
