The full impact of the wildfires that ravaged central and western parts of the Hawaiian island of Maui, including the city of Lahaina, beginning on Aug. 8 have yet to be determined. Hawaii Gov. Josh Green, MD, said in an Aug. 13 briefing that the fires were the "largest natural disaster in Hawaii state history" and that 80% of the historic beach-front town had "gone.

Around Broome at the moment there are less shorebirds than at other times of the year due to the annual shorebird migration. Many of the migratory shorebirds will start to return to Broome in coming weeks and months. We all hope that they were able to breed successfully in the Northern Hemisphere and that they can find food throughout the Flyway to return to our shores.

My boyfriend's family has an in-ground pool in the backyard and it has basically become a pond after years of neglect. Awhile back, I noticed there were bullfrogs living in it. My son and I are big nature lovers, so we've (gently) caught and released them back into the pool-pond multiple times. Everyone seemed to think they are pretty cool and no one was upset over their presence.

Hi all. My family and I feed a few squirrels on our front deck. Last night we noticed this one squirrel has a mirrored injury. (the injury you see is the same exact spot and appearance on its other side) We are thinking maybe a bird or mammal tried to grab it? Any ideas? Last photo irrelevant but funny because the squirrel comes to the window looking cute for more food.

My dog chased a skunk that was in our yard all the way to the other side of the fence. My dog was too big to make it through the same route that the skunk got through and so they were stuck on opposite ends. My dog proceeded to then bark at the fence for the next 2 hours at 1:00 AM. at first i thought it was for no reason, and that the skunk was long gone by now but it actually wasn’t.

If i went and bought a baby duckling, would it be safe to then take it to a pond near me and release it? The pond I have in mind has a lot of ducks there. Would it be okay if i released it right next to the other ducks? Would the duckling integrate with the other ducks and be safe? Or is there a chance they wouldn’t accept him and he’d inevitably die?

So long story short, a stork flew onto a yard where I live and won't fly away, from what I've heard, when he tries to fly he can't really go up higher than ~2 meters. I just came back from the store and noticed that most of his legs are white, and only the feet are red-ish, is that normal or could he have some sort of disease or be hurt somehow?

So I live in an area where there are stray cats. Since I’ve moved here last year I have had 5 cats fixed and found homes for 9 kittens. Anyway I have 4 more that need homes. Well my neighbor is a elderly lady I never ever seen her. But her sons come over to bring food do her yard ect. Early yesterday morning I hear a kitten crying I look everywhere I then see on next door neighbor porch a kitten in a live trap screaming.
