Did you know that my wife actually invented the binocular spotting scope? I lack proof of this but she did, honestly. As a scout would say “On my honour it is so”. Seriously though, we were walking our dog at the local park when out of the blue she said (and she is not into birding at all) “ You know what would be great. If that telescope thingamajig of yours had two eyepieces instead of one.

Hello! This story happend couple of years ago, mid 2019 I believe. It was an extraordinary hot summer. Anyway, I was walking around in one of my favorite parks in the middle of the night so I could barely see my feet in front of me. I just enjoyed being near all the trees and then I had to take a p**s. So I walked to a couple of maple trees when it suddenly felt as if I kicked a soft ball.

Right. I did not actually go to Afghanistan for birding. I had another reason for that, trying to support a local NGO and its projects to educate Afghan women – something that is extremely important due to the current Taliban ban on female education past 6th grade. In a barely disguised advertising plug, I will explain more at the end of this post (and probably in some other posts describing my travels in Afghanistan).

So I have a question for disease experts: I recently have scratched by a stray cat for no particular reason and I got my first shot of rabies vaccine the other day 12-15 hours later from exposure. The size of the scratch which located on my finger is less than a centimeter and I have shown no symptoms or whatsoever. Was I late for the vaccine? Should I be concerned?

I got birds a coulple of months ago and I fell in love. However I fell into a deep depression and I cant take care of my birds anymore. I have also learned I'm not responsible enough to take care of these birds because one ended up dying very early on. I dont want these birds to keep suffering. I'm desperately trying to figure out how many bones a Jaguar has. It came up in conversation with a friend and I've tried every variation on "how many bones does a Jaguar/s skeleteon/Panthera onca etc have" in google and I keep finding absolutely nothing online. Every other big cat, you can find their bone count quite quickly. Tigers have 423 Lions have 230-240 Cheetas have 244 Leopards have 250 I feel like I'm going crazy.

like i know they fast and can climb trees but stil like they so fragile compared to lion, heynas or male baboons and like i have even seen a wilder beasts stomp a cub to death. how have cheetahs not gone extinct everything kills them or their cubs?

This is not about financial constraints, rather, it stems from the emotional strain of dealing with a dog's health issues. She says that she is very depressed (she is just angry of the dog licks the paws). The alergies are under control with one medication. Despite my love for dogs, managing a severe autoimmune condition prevents me from having one, and that's why I opted for a cat.

I love this Mr. but he often gets too big for his kitty britches. For example, absolutely no cats allowed on the counters ever. I was sitting here reading and looked over yesterday and actually had to look 3 times to make sure I was actually seeing him calmly sitting on my counter looking at me (he didn’t stay long and a deep clean took place). Secondly, this is my Pouf for when I want to sit on the floor….he has used it regularly lately to the point where I have given up and let him have it.

I guess I’d like to know if other animals have a warped perception of time (relative to ours). Like, I know we say “7 dog years is 1 human year” or something to help kids understand why dogs/certain pets die so ‘young’, but; are there any animals that live slower (or faster) than us? I chose birds for the title because of their snappy head movement.

Sup everyone. Brazilian boy here, living in Minas Gerais, if that’s of any help. I’m currently at my grandma’s farm and this little guy here just appeared one day at the mango’s tree. Not sure what it is, some people think it’s a sloth and some that it’s a porcupine. Couldn’t take any better picture of it, sorry. Any idea what it is?
