Among his accomplishments, his service to both the American Veterinary Medical Foundation and the AVMA Trusts helped both entities evolve into the vital, relevant entities they are today.

Visit to our next national park in Greece started with an excellent fish dinner in the Porto Lagos harbour, overlooking the pine forest with a heronry, and we had Black-crowned Night-Herons , Little Egrets and Grey Herons coming and going, a lone White Stork , a Common Tern , and numerous Yellow-legged Gulls in the harbour, together with half a dozen cats around our table.

This year’s AVMA Meritorious Service Award recipient is Dr. Phillip D. Nelson. He stepped down in September 2022 as dean of Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) College of Veterinary Medicine after 15 years. This award recognizes a veterinarian who has brought honor and distinction to the veterinary profession through personal, professional, or community service activities that are conducted outside the scope of organized veterinary medicine or research.

The Collared Finchbill is not a rare bird, and it is not endangered, but it is a particular favorite of mine. So, in order to show a few more photos of the bird than the usual two or three had I included this bird in a post of birds seen around Wolongshan, Sichuan), here is one dedicated to the species. The Collared Finchbill is a bulbul, even though the name does not state this directly.

White-winged Choughs – Corcorax melanorhamphos are native to southern and eastern Australia and one of the bird species that is likely to suddenly make you jump when you walk through a forest. As you carefully wander through a forest keeping an eye out for any movement you may well suddenly be startled when they take off from the ground and move into the nearby trees.

What are these (I think) animal footprints I found today in our boat painting dock. There seems to be no way for any animals to come inside as it's locked up at night time. My original thought was some kind of hoofed animal but surely not. The location is Birmingham, England. I arrived to work at 6:00am meaning it must have come in at night time.

Im not on Reddit much so I hope this is the right place but i need some help w baby birds ! Somewhat time sensitive last night coming home these baby birds in a nest right by our porch got spooked by something and just sort of jumped out. They're still very small (although mother bird is pretty small too) and don't even really have tail feathers.

I’m a landscaper and we’ve cut a plot of grass, I spotted about 5 newborn mice and can’t see the mum. We’re rotavating the soil so I had to move them, and I can’t take them anywhere because my boss thinks it’d be stupid. I’ve wrapped them in grass and put them to the side. Will they be okay? Sorry if this is the wrong sub, not sure which to go to!!

I live in a big city and there are three great t**s always flying around my neighbourhood. I really like their chirping and one of them is a little one, I think it's 5-6 months old. Along them there's a robin and two blackbirds. Again, since living in a big city, I suppose they eat what they find in the streets or from the garbage bins, so to help them I bought two small pots and I filled one of those with water, for the heat of summer, and the other one with some seeds, but not too many

My girlfriend has had 2 pet feeder mice that she saved from petco, and they’ve been getting along for the past month or so, however today she got another mouse and the original 2 are very aggressive towards it (they are all females). She is very worried they will kill the new one, and doesn’t know what to do. How can we get them to stop fighting?

I was having a conversation with a group of friends, and one of our friends showed a video to our group of gross animal abuse involving a cat. Being a huge animal person, I instantly started thinking of ways to pay that guy back. I was wondering if anyone knew the legal precedent for defending an animal from a human using physical force? Can I send him to the hospital too, or will that mean jail-time?
