I tried to get a better idea of what exactly the definition of cuckoo-dove is but am still not very clear about it – Wikipedia only offers the rather formal definition “any of several species of bird in the genera Macropygia , Reinwardtoena, and Turacoena of the pigeon family.” But I may well be wrong.

Birding can be enjoyed at various levels of intensity, from casual birdwatching in one’s backyard to more dedicated pursuits that involve keeping birding lists, participating in birding competitions, or contributing to citizen science projects. My impression is that rarities are not nemesis birds, as they are definitionally rare.

Argentinian Julián Quillén Vidoz, is both a co-author and an illustrator of Birds of Bolivia , and is apparently one of those multi-talented birders, with research (in Bolivia), guiding, and illustration on his resume.

At least in the northeastern United States, their rate of so doing is high, according to research I summarized here. This of course raises questions of what happens when all of the inland nesting grounds of all the loons becomes covered with glacial ice during ice ages, then later, the ice melts and the lakes return. This is so unfair.
