It is often useful to look at satellite images on Google Earth to see where there is suitable habitat for different bird species. When we decided to go to see what bird species there were in the undeveloped areas at Changi Business Park we encountered several species of bird that we did not observe anywhere else in Singapore.

For many grassland species, our vast expanses of tilled and plowed fields, orchards and vineyards, pastures and rangeland offer an abundance of convenient food and shelter – and some bolder birds even wander indoors to find these things in our barns and stables. For most of history, beer has thrived in agrarian settings, too.

My company has an office in Monterrey so my trip wasn’t the first time to this industrial city, nor will it be the last. There was a large raft of hundreds of American Coot , an American White Pelican and lots of duck species. We then checked the Presa El Nogalito for one bird species in particular. The birds warmed us too.
