The birds know my voice and this one beat up looking squirrel actually comes right up to me. My yard is always so full of animals paying me a visit, that it's become a Disney princess satire. I don't leave food lying around but they always find their way to me and sit among my flowers and plants.

The scent of skunk that perfumed one portion of the path at Pelham Bay Park seemed to foretell a skunking for us. Gene went home to Rockland County, Seth and Rich dropped me off, and Bob joined them for some more birding out on Long Island. Three species of owl in one park in the Bronx in one morning!

Then we got in our kayaks and realized that to get to the marshes we wanted to explore we first had to paddle into the wind and against the incoming tide to head southeast out of the Cape May Canal and into Cape May Harbor before we turned east across the harbor and then north under Ocean Drive and into Skunk Sound.
