The Cattle Egret Expansion

When you think of invasives, you think of the birds that have been helped by human beings to get where they are, such as House Sparrow or European Starling. I’d like to introduce you to a diminutive heron, the Cattle Egret Bubuclus ibis. Cattle Egret has been introduced by humans to Hawaii and the Seychelles.

Australian Owlet-nightjar

You do need to be careful of cattle wandering across the highway, as the grass always looks greener on the other side! It had quite possibly not come across a human being in this remote part of Australia and these birds are generally only seen at night-if at all. Here we had an Australian Owlet-nightjar !
