So for a long time now I've been feeling unwell, never once had I found a healthy coping mechanism but I think spending more times with animals could help, I've always loved them, my cat has supported me emotionally more than anyone just by her presence. I feel safe with animals. Any advice?

I am not an animal hater. I’ve volunteered with animals and feel emotional attachment to animal causes. I hate reading things about what it means when someone doesn’t love animals, because I don’t feel like it resonates with me. I had a dog growing up who was loved and treated like a family member.

I have never had a bond this strong with anyone, animal or person. This dog is not just a dog, she is hyper intelligent and responds to my emotions, she can read and respond to WRITTEN English commands. I didn’t have the adoption fee money until payday, but by then it would have been too late. So she was mine, for free.
