These gorillas live in groups of two to twenty and are extremely gregarious animals. A dominant male serves as the group leader. Cross river gorilla in Congo The Cross River gorillas reach sexual maturity at age 10 and typically give birth every four years. They have cone-shaped heads, and a scarlet crest sits atop them.

The UN airlifted these guys into the nature reserve so they can coalesce into a group that can survive when released back into the wild. Frankly, with the rate these poor animals are being decimated, I wonder sometimes if they SHOULD be released back into the wild. Wouldn't they be safer in the reserve?
