All photos were taken in Australia in December 2016 – locations included Brisbane and surroundings, Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, Melbourne, and the coast near Melbourne. Admittedly, it is mostly grey.

This is a rather photographer-friendly species, staying on the same branch for quite a while and even returning to it after catching some insects – you can see this on video here and here. While the source does not say so directly, it hints that this means the species is not as intelligent as Eurasian Magpies (which pass the test).

I have observed this species many times (my eBird says 28 times this year alone) and never had one landing near me. Before (May 2016, by Zeljko Stanimirovic)…. Cover photo : Made at the same place and time of the year, I observed this young White-tailed Eagle coming from the same nest in 2016.
